2 girls climb US-Mexico border fence in less than 18 seconds

So what's going on here?

Since the mid-1990s, the US has built fencing at various points along the southern border in an attempt to deter would-be immigrants from Mexico. Building the fence isn't cheap. On average, each mile of border fence costs US taxpayers about $4 million to build and will cost another $6.5 billion over the next 20 years to repair and maintain.

Are we getting our money's worth? Is the border fence an effective deterrent? To find out, I asked two young women—both only about 5'5"—to see if they could climb the wall. Check it out...

If we're really serious about reducing undocumented immigration, we could make more effective use of our tax dollars. Those of you who have seen The Other Side of Immigration might remember this statement from the end of the film: "Why spend money on a border fence when we could invest in highways, factories, and greenhouses. How many greenhouses could we build for the cost of that wall? If we invest in Mexico, people won't want to leave."

What do you think? Would spending a dollar to reduce poverty in Mexico be a more effective way to reduce undocumented immigration than spending a dollar to build more fencing along the border?

The fact that comments like if their first action was to enter illegally damns them forever! They are obstructed forever. How many kids were brought here and now are adults won't ever be given a chance even if they are crime free & contributing to the good. Tough is what people say. No forgiveness for anyone is what these Christians say.

The way I see it is this country of ours has to have a "subservient" group & now this group the illegals are perfect for this because we can maintain them in illegal status eternally and exploit them for our benefit and always justify it because they are illegal & it won't matter the good or the bad, this blanketed under illegal.....

I mean wouldn't you want your children to have the best living if that was your case or would you care about what others think? I'm not saying everybody does good. There are those bad imigrants that ruin it for everybody.

@chuck9788 I couldn't agree more with you on the perspective in working at McDonalds. I worked on one myself, but in this world we live by the rule of every man for himself and his family. You can't blame illegals for what goes on in this world. If its not one thing its something else. Not finding a job isn't somebody else fault, its just an excuse to not try hard enough.
