@alawson911 - He certainly was instrumental in helping end the atrocities in East Timor, of which you should know, being an Australian.
He cannot be blamed that not enough have taken his messages seriously, yet. That's the reason we have to keep on trying.

@scarletletterman84: What has Chomsky actually achieved, as the great guiding light to the intelligent young for so many decades? Whatever it may be, his insights do not seem to have produced the results one might have hoped they would. AIPAC is now running rampant over the constitution, through its influence peddling in Washington, so that the term 'Democracy', when applied to the U.S., is just as laughable as it was when the rich and powerful Greeks were running their slave state.

Thats actually pretty fascinating, because I would say the same thing from the opposite perspective on this matter! At any rate, I would hope that you don't deny yourself such an insightful resource as Mr. Chomsky over this, especially considering he won't be around much longer.

@scarletletterman84: I don't happen to think that it a good plan to concentrate on single issues, while ignoring the Big Picture. To me, Mr. Chomsky's opinions, on most things, will always be tainted by his attitude to 9/11.

I'd like to interject there. As far as Noam's credibility, he has always been FAR more well-regarded outside our borders. Most don't have an inkling who he is in the US. Second, his focus has always been on Foreign affairs and policy. His position of 9/11 being irrelevant, I agree with to an extent. It happened, whether it was internal or not the result was the same- they got the excuse they needed, and indeed worked for for so long. A fearful pop is a controlled pop.

Chomsky speaks the truth as always, when will the americans realized that they are brainwashed?
yes pr chomsky, similar comments can be maid on western democracies, say US, but where, right inside US, because in US, freedom of expression is respected not in iran; they are now talking about drafting about a whole parallel human rights chart namely islamic human rights, to hell with it.

@mahvachcheidani - Iran was a much better place until we helped overthrow Mohammed Mosaddek. Freedom of expression isn't always respected here in the States, as the recent protests have revealed.
