Part 10 of 12.

From Book TV:

About the Program
From the City University of New York, authors George Galloway and Christopher Hitchens debate the war in Iraq. George Galloway, opposed to the Iraq War, is a member of the British Parliment and the author of "Mr. Galloway Goes to Washington: The Brit Who Set Congress Straight About Iraq." The book tells the story of his recent appearance before the U.S. Senate Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations, where he verbally attacked U.S. Senators while responding to charges related to Iraq's oil-for-food program. Christopher Hitchens, in favor of the Iraq War, is the author of "Love, Poverty, and War: Journeys and Essays" and "Blood, Class and Empire: The Enduring Anglo-American Relationship." "Democracy Now!" radio host Amy Goodman moderates. She is the author of "The Exception to the Rulers: Exposing Oily Politicians, War Profiteers, and the Media That Love Them."

About the Author
George Galloway is the Respect Party's Member of Parliament for Bethnal Green and Bow in London. He won the seat after his expulsion from the Labour Party for his opposition to the Iraq War. Christopher Hitchens is a contributing editor to Vanity Fair and a visiting professor of liberal studies at the New School in New York.

  • "You're a court jester!" lmao! Is that all he can think of to say? haha I agree with davidesugar. He's just looking for ways to make the crazy liberals whoop in his favor.

  • Hitchens never defended Barbara Bush, and speaking of her comments has nothing to do with the US's handling of Katrina. It just seemed like a a cheap soundbyte by GG to get applause.

  • at times it is shameful to listen to Mr. Galloway goes to Washington.

  • "youve fallen out of the gutter into the sewer," galloway is a legend

  • 3:46 Amy is sitting in a very uncomfortable position.

  • look

hitchens studied philsophy and politics at oxford in the late 60s.

amy goodman studied anthropology at a small liberal arts college.

hitchens was at the top of his class and was a marxist at the time, he also organized for MLK rallies/support on campus.

  • Why do people boo the constitution? The Bush family is not the constitution, and they cannot change it.

  • I don't understand why people start booing the constitution at 4:55. anyone explain?

  • @runelord37 It has been a while since I watched this, but it is a great credit to Mr Hitchens that he is able to maintain his wit and composure while Galloway appeals to the most baboon-like in the audience. Call that "cerebral" if you want.

  • @gonzoredux not even close to being a stalinist...absurd lol. its called delivery of valid points.... truth is hard to refute no matter how great a debater or how cerebral you are. he was soundly defeated as all neo-con rhetoric is sheep think

  • @runelord37 A stodgy ad hominem Stalinist can, too.

  • @gonzoredux wanna know why he was flummoxed ? because he was soundly defeated not in merely debate format but in absolute format. truth can do that
