@MrFutbolero09 your absolutely right. The cuban musicians had a huge influence on the mexican music in the 50's. I didn't know that the MM Orchestra is still playing in Mexico. Anyway like (also Cuban) Enrique Jorrin said "el Danzon, su majestad, jamas morira, and I agree with it.
There's a very interesting recording with the filarmonic orchestra from Mexico City which play danzon in a classical way. I recommend it to you. Greetings
@samlettuce Hey samlettuce Mariano Merceron left Cuba when he was very young and came to Mexico and there lived and died. In Mexico The Mariano Merceron Orchestra still playing, he was one of the cuban musics that contributed to enrich the mexican popular music join to Consejo Valiente "Acerina", Damaso Perez Prado., Tomas P\once Reyes, Silvestre Mendez, and much more cuban musics that came to Mexico and stayed there
Mariano Merceron was considered the King of Danzon. He was borned in Cuba but lived many years in Mexico where he played in the Salones de Baile (Salon los Angeles, Salon Mexico etc). They are some recordings of his wonderful interpretations like this one. My first Danzon LP was from him "los danzones mas padres" recorded in Mexico.
I'm sure you could have more information if you ask the community in Danzon. Hope I helped a bit
If anyone has information about this musican and his family, please respond. This is my husband's father. He died when my husband was young, and he do not know much about him and his family.
