Change of guard at the Royal
Music Unit is responsible for initiating the Solemn Changing of the Royal Guard which takes place every first Wednesday of each month if the weather or any official act permitting. Chords sound Admiral, Mrs. Francisquita, Spain Cani. The fifes and drums accompany their passage, while, standing firm, gun on shoulder, waiting incoming call to the ledge.

And lancers and pikemen marching, rifle companies, military, men and women-held guns and ammunition cheeks for almost an hour. In total, 400 people and 100 horses that staged the relay just as it was in the days of King Alfonso XII and Alfonso XIII, in the uniforms of the time.

Quite a show, which finds its perfect complement other Wednesday of the year, at 11:00 am at the door of the Prince. The palace guards (two feet and two horse) wearing dress-blue uniforms, white and red, similar to those used by the Spanish army in times of Alfonso XIII, made a relief every 30 minutes until 14: 00 h, accompanied by a fife (high-pitched piccolo used in military bands) and a drummer who play military marches, following orders and regulations voices.

A better way to enjoy Madrid and traditions.
