George Carlin helped me denounce my faith in Christianity. And Carlin was a very happy man in his personal life, but he was by no means an optimist. Not in the delusional sense.

I think you have characterized Carlin pretty well, and his humor does come from anger.

But to compare what he did to what Fred Phelps does is ludicrous. People can avoid Carlin if they want, but Phelps imposes himself on others. He protests at military funerals, GLOATING over the death. He CELEBRATES suffering and catastrophes like 9-11 and Katrina. He condemns to HELL, just about everybody who isn't in his cult.

There is no comparison here.

Someone needs to tell that old fart Phelps that two wrongs don't make a right. I cannot believe someone claiming to be a man of God could be so definitively EVIL. He is the EPITOME of what is WRONG about religion; stop imposing on others, stop trying to shove your beliefs (or BLINDNESS as I call it) down the throats of others. Many people that call themselves Christians are some of the most evil people that have walked the earth. Hitler is a good example.

He had rage and he was human. He was angry about aloy of things. I think he was a great talent. George Carlin was human like most of us. thanks for the responce I admire your stance as far as trying to understand people. To me Carlin had more to say about how gullible oeople are, The main focus in my opinion was the club that none of us are in. The commonality for all of us is us and them. UP YOURS how patronising !George Carlins so called "anger" is just your interpretation of his brutal honestly and great integrity He was disgusted ( and rightly) by the way society is run and how pathetically dumbed down we have all become .
