Tommy Emmanuel, Richard Smith - Dance of the Goldenrod

Let's round off the year with a rarely played tune by Merle Travis. He and Chet recorded "The Dance of the Goldenrod" for their 1974 collaboration "The Atkins-Travis Traveling Show". This album is of special significance to me, because it was the tune "Down South Blues" from that very record that I watched my father picking, when I was five years old. I begged him to show it to me and eventually it became the first tune I ever learned on the guitar. Even though the goldenrod is the state flower of Kentucky, the song especially delighted the Bavarian fans in the audience. You'll soon find out why. Happy New 2011 everybody!

It's always so great to see you (both) play. This reminds me of Rietberg 2004 when Buster B. Jones was joining the stage. We took a picture of Buster & you with Martin & me. That's a wonderful memory!
