OK, not to my taste.
Not to denigrate Hale, a fine singer with a fine voice, whose career has been fine as well. But this rendition, given the body language especially, strikes me as practically condescending. Especially given Paul Robeson's splendid recordings of "Joshua," etc. More to come:) --

Strange that there is so little of him on Youtube. I don't know about his American career but he did SO MUCH here in Europe. I would expect to find more chips than just this

I was privileged to hear Robert Hale sing The Flying Dutchman live a few years ago. His voice, stage presence, and charisma were incredible.
