There is a number of different instructional videos on youtube about this topic, so I wanted to share my technique. There is no special trick involved other than getting the center of gravity where it needs to be and applying a bit of strength. What seems important to me is keeping the legs straight. Otherwise, I always have my knees flopping around. When they're straight I can actually use them as a leverage. Plus, when doing the transfer into the wheelchair, I always try to get as high up as possible. This keeps my knees from bending and getting caught in the wheelchair frame and makes sure my bottom lands where it ought to.

Warning: If you're using a different technique, please don't try this without assistance for the first time. Everyone is different. I'm 5ft10, roughly 150 pounds and have very long legs, long arms and a short torso. I'm T V/VI (complete) since 10 years so all of this happens without legs, abs, lower back muscle.
