The coolest thing of all about Audie was his humility. He starred in the movie, not to gloat, but to make sure they didn't overplay the events. After the war, he gave all his medals away to friends. I served in V-6 division on the Forrestal between '62 and '65 and consider myself a lucky guy to have seen her come and go. She'd have made a far greater memorial than the U.S.S. Intrepid berthed in NYC.

I was 11 years old when she was launched, life sure passes by fast, eh? Too bad about today's world though, Bush has really fucked it up...
