Went on a trip down at the Yankee Jims bridge on the N. fork of the American river to test out my new sluice idea and look for gold. One thing I wanted to mention. Met a couple characters down there. The guy you hear yelling at the end of the video was this older guy that seemed like he lived at the river. He came out of the hills somewhere when I was finishing out my day. About 55, gray hair and could tell he spent years living outdoors. He walked down to the river with his dog, walked a few steps into the river as if he had done this a thousand times before, bent down and splashed water all over himself. Scrubbed up a little bit then shook the water off. Seeing me he walked over and started talking. I think he could tell I was fairly new to prospecting and I could tell he was an old timer that new what he was talking about. We talked for about 20 minutes and then him and his dog walked off to their spot. Seeing these different folks at the river, hearing their stories, seeing how they live in nature, I think that's part of the gold.
