Mauritius to me was just an island somewhere in the Indian ocean! Never a missions trip destination!!! But right from the moment of having heard about it from his mouth, i was sure in my spirit that God was cooking something! Something BIG! Yup! Its true, His ways are higher than our ways and His thoughts higher than ours!! After 4 months of anticipation and excitement, the long awaited trip to Mauritius became a reality on April the 8th 2008!! Air Mauritius Flight MK747 from Chennai just didnt have ordinary passengers on board. The five member team of Face2Face were different!!! Because we had a sixth person(and the most important person) in the team along with us!! The HOLY SPIRIT!! On a personal level, God had moved in each of our lives in a special way!! As if it were just to make us "Mauritius Compatible". God had worked and reworked on several areas of my life as if He was fine tuning me to the frequency of the Holy Spirit! And at Chennai Airport before we took off, the word of God spoke to us in one sentence... "Dreaming...Believing...Giving...Praising...Reaching and Winning!!" Yup! That was to be our work in Mauritius!! Upon arrival in Mauritius, i had a good news and a bad news for myself!! The good news was that Mauritius was far more beautiful and developed than i'd expected and the bad news was that they spoke mainly Creole(a french derivative)!! So i thought to myself how on earth are we going to lead praise n worship if they cant understand the language?? So here came lesson no.1(on the first meeting of our trip): There is only ONE LANGUAGE IN WORSHIP!!! The language of the Spirit!!
Over the next twelve days, God had broken every single thing that i had learned as a christian over several years.... As a worship leader, i learned a new thing.. That you dont need a song to worship God! As Matt Redman(composer of the song "Heart of Worship" and many more) had realised, i too understood that "when the music fades and all is stripped away" you reach a point of saturation in the Holy Spirit or Saint Espirit(Holy Spirit in Creole) such that you dont require the guitar or any other instrument to worship God. "Longing just to bring, something that's of worth, that'll bless your heart... I'll bring you more than a song".... Yes more than a song it was....Most of the meetings we led worship in Mauritius had no song sung....Yet the power of God was so tangible!!! And of all the things that i want to share about this trip was the fact that God used 5 ordinary people!! To do extra ordinary things!!! Just by believing in the "Supernatural" Father we have and the unlimited power of the credit card that HE gives to HIS children: FAITH!!! I could go on and on about this trip...The miracles we saw... Healings we witnessed...The unfailing provision of God...The "Jesus" passionate people we met....Their hospitality and love...And hundreds of other things that i had seen for the first time in my life.... Everything will remain etched in my heart and mind FOREVER!!! I will always remain thankful to God for giving me such a privilege and an opportunity to serve His people!! Moreover i just didnt have team mates with me.. They were my family!! Ray(My big bro), Benzy(The sister whom i always pester), Sudeep(Our overseer) and Sibil(ma look alike and pardner in all mischief!!).. Miss u all so much and God bless u all abundantly!! It is my prayer that whoever reads this will be blessed and be encouraged to further God's Kingdom in every single way he or she can!!! In a way big or small!!! GOD bless u..or.. Bon Dieu beni toi!!( And that folks is one of the things i learned in Creole) :)
