grey matter part two

Grijsgedraaid is a documentary portraying a number of elderly ladies in an old peoples home. The documentary starts out as pure slapstick: at the elevator an old woman with a rollator does battle with it's doors for access; at the daily bingo, with a jar of peanut butter it's main prize, the contestants fall asleep; a senior citizen with view master in a lazy chair, watching a Tell Sell programme on television which is praising a hometrainer that will help transform weak, bulged-out bodies back into a sexy shape. Through effective editing the laughter than gradually turns in to dismay. What we are watching is not funny at all, but a harrowing account of the sad and piteous aspects of old life.
