First in our series of interesting tips
Always test your water to be sure it isn't contaminated by heavy metals, chemicals or bacteria. If it is then use a high level filtration system. Many municipalities have good filtered water most of the time. It is just the chlorine taste that is the issue. During flooding you may want to resort to a filtering system as this can also effect water quality on a short term basis. Otherwise enjoy delicious water without the hassle and cost of buying a filter.

  • Lets just say it tastes free but I usually let it go greater than 24 hours. It works well if you have several jugs going at once. Also test water for other contaminants that do not evaporate.:)

  • Good tip. But remember Guys, the more air surface the water has the better the 'gas out' of the chlorine. In other words a wide bowl is better than a narrow bowl.

  • I thought this process only eliminated the taste but the cholrine is still in the water.

  • i heard thru the grape vine that 4 hrs was good enough. But in this case since we all hate chlorine in our water, the longer it's left out might be better. thanks!

  • Why can't I use the chlorine removal drops that I put in my fish tank that claim to work instantly?

  • they say, its evaps at 1 gal per 24 hrs,, so a one gal jug is chlorine free in 24 hrs,

  • Yeah the tip is quick but the evaporation technique is definitely slooooww! What I do is have several pitchers going at once, staggered one for each day. This way I never run out.

  • it's a simple tip for sure. but not quick

  • Thanks for the tip.
