This film is Tsui Hark's debut film, which became quite popular, I think, in 1994. A really emotionally gripping movie, with outstanding cinematography of colors and angles. I recommend this to anyone looking for a tearjerker.

No other movie can ever beat the Original Butterfly lovers. ;( sigh.. this is so sad..

though i haven't see the one with wu chun and charlenen yet. i hope it's as good. ;)

@xeebra15 Yes I agree!  I just saw the 2008 version with Wu Chun. It's not as sad as this version. This version made me cry my eyes out. And the song is more sad! And I want the song!

Thanks bee1vang for uploading this, and your other videos. I know some people like to pan this film, but I think it is touching, funny, charming, and moving. Charlie Young is wonderful in it. The music is outstanding -- I remember James Wong won a Hong Kong Film Award for best film score. Thanks to Tsui Hark for this great work
