Looks like the carbide cutter cuts good but how long will it stay shart on each side? Looks like the turner is a professional turner also. Notice how thick a chunk of wood he removes when plunging in and how fine the chips are when he is moving along the sides of the bowl. I use this type of tools ancutter made by another company so I will try these to see how they compare. Price is right. Mitch

The carbide insert is 25-100 times as hard as high speed steel and I can turn about 12-15 bowls before the insert might need changing. I turn the tip after 3-4 bowls to a new sharp edge. The allen wrench is provided for that purpose along with the tool. It is not worth trying to sharpen the inserts and would require special equipment for that. At inserts costing from $6.00 to $12.00, that is a lot of turning for such a reasonable cost.

I have a lot of experience with the tools but am not a professional turner. Been turning 3 years. Mark
