@pokeplat Right, but in the Kai arc where Keiichi gave Mion the doll, Shion didn't go crazy. So the doll DOES matter. :)

THE DOLL IS POINTLESS! It never mattered whether or not Mion got the doll because Shion was the crazy psychopath.

Well technically Rena didn't really mind very much as she wanted Mion to be happy. In the manga version of Watanagashi she even says that she would like to give the doll to Mion but felt it was pointless as it wouldn't have the same meaning
