BNSF 8139(SD60M)BNSF 339(GP60B Cabless)Ex SOO CEFX 6015(SD60)BNSF6876(SD45T-2)BNSF 1912(SD39)Heading into the yard in Barstow CA....The last large group of "cabless" locomotives built by EMD were 23 GP60B's. Originally part of Santa Fe's "Super Fleet", they were built for use on high speed intermodal trains. Their glory days are over, today they work mainly in general freight service. These diesels were neat. These, along with the GP60Ms, are the last diesels I can think of to be built in reasonable number for only one railroad.

  • Why don't railroads that typically operate high HP consists operate more cabless locomotives? They should be cheaper to buy, and if you only have crew members in the lead unit running cabless units would be logical. A-B-B-B-A

    I'm a mechanical engineer, not a railroader.

  • Awesome video! love all that old power, good ol B-unit and SD60M
