Factory farming is one of the main reasons for water scarcity. In order to produce 5kg of meat, 500.000 lit. of water are used! Now think about how many kilos of meat are bought everyday in the world and you'll understand that factory farming has quite a big impact on water scarcity. Not to mention the fact that animals go through terrible suffering and pain and their meat is contaminated with bacteria and antibiotics. STOP EATING MEAT!
By the way : for desalinating 1000 gallons of seawater 14 kw of electric energy are used!
And depending on the region/location on earth one meter of ground receives 1000-1500 watts of heat!
Converting that into electricity through a photovoltaic cell at a 20% efficiency results in a 70 square meters covered with solar cells and you'll have 1000 gallons of water in about one hour IF the sky is clear and plenty of sun!
The water scarcity zones have A LOT OF SUN AND LAND so it will work 100%!
So you're saying Africa has the money to build these plants to purify saltwater? You're saying Africa, an entire continent under poverty, when the people can't afford to have food or proper clothing can afford to build billion dollar machinery to purify and obtain water? Have you forgotten how basic economy works? Just because you HAVE it doesn't mean you can AFFORD it. America has the technology to go to the moon daily, but can we afford that? Obviously not.
Please don't buy into this scripted scarcity bunk! We already have the technology (being kept from the market in some cases) to convert salt water, take water out of the air and other methods. They are preparing us for a new "Peak Oil" like just like they did with oil. What better way to keep us in fear and falsely charge us more for our basic needs.
@flashpoint62 I totally agree! Its one of the reasons I only had one child. Shows like 18 kids and counting is like having a show about dumping oil in rivers. In America though the law would never fly. If you ask the country to limit how many children they have and how much water they consume, half the people would pop out some more kids just to prove they have the right to. People have a hard time balancing liberty and personal responsibility.... Its a shame!

While all the poor people are taking steps to take care of water resources, all the rich ones are wasting it. Let's kill the rich ones.

I don't like this video:it's a bit"oligarhic" by nature!
WHY isn't there a word said in this video about WATER DESALINATION USING SOLAR ENERGY WICH IS ALMOST FREE ENERGY?
Water scarcity is a problem because we don't care about water until we don't have ANY...
If we invest now in solar powered water desalination plants we would never have ANY problem with water in the near future!
97% water ",I THINK" IT WOULD BE ENOUGH,DON'T YOU?
Stop spending money on crap;
BUILD SOLAR POWER PLANTS EVERYWHERE!
