http://www.sunkilmoon.com Lyrics below.. amazing songwriting. For the show set list, see description in "Michael".

Strawberry Hill

i can hear them
speaking in the next room
as they drink and start
losing control and get louder
they lose control and get louder
they wonder about me
and i can hear her
twirling the ice with her finger
and she's got that
half dead look in her eyes by now
she worries about me

he's not like the
the other boys around here
he says nothing
and sits in his room
and he's afraid to
and he's afraid to drive a car
so sad he is

it's our duty
as we're respected
it's our duty
as californians
to show him new life

ever since my staying
i've been having bad dreams
so stop eating cabbage
and stop talking to that girl
what are the winters like here?
hush up and play the piano
but have i told you how i love her?
yes but you're aquarius
and she is capricorn
come come now
and meet your cousins from l.a.
shut up and leave me alone

we know who you are
i read your palm while you were sleeping
and i read through your diary
and the secrets you've been keeping
we were already aware of
and now for dinner
and maybe tomorrow
we'll have a drink and talk this over
and in the meantime
please think of the good things
we've done for you

it's our duty
as we're respected
it's our duty
as californians
to show him new life

  • Whatever happened to RHP?

  • @BruisedEyeSockets .. I guess Sun Kil Moon is essentially an extension of RHP, with Mark frequently using Anthony Koutsos and Phil Carney from RHP.. the central figure has always been Mark and his songwriting. He has also put out some material under his own name. However, in SKM, Mark has not had a consistent, fixed group of bandmembers, as he did in RHP. He's stated in interviews that he has moved on from the RHP name.

  • I can't believe that as much as RHP toured in the 90's, that this is the only live footage on YT?

  • @infernus44 There were no micro video cameras in the 90's. The act of recording had to be allowed by the venue and/or artist, because the camera was out in the open, and not small. For those reasons, there's not a lot amateur concert video footage from the 90's. Everyone was just trying to record the audio back then.

  • I've watched this video over a hundred times. Normally, I'd be embarrassed to say something like that, but it's just THAT special. Mark is one of the very best.

  • I agree. It's my favorite from the set. The lyrics in this song are just amazing.

  • almost enough to make me cry... some of life's best memories are wrapped up in this record - this is the first time in 15 years i've ever seen live footage of RHP as a band

  • I love this song, I was so lucky yo see Red House Painters in Birmingham England early 1990's supported by Hedi Berry. I didn't come down for days!

  • @turntablecafe I like the name a lot.. But I guess that makes sense. Hope I can see him perform someday.

  • Poor bass player and drummer...they must be on valium or something...love this tho thx :-)

  • Thank you thank you thank you :)

  • This is good stuffff! Mark is such an awesome musician, and one that pulls off everything live almost perfectly, which I like best.
