This is a video edit I did for the song "Suddenly Last Summer" by The Motels. The original song was a Top Ten US hit for the band in 1983. In 2001, someone made a remix of the song. I took the old video, edited it, and added the remix version onto it.

  • 1. I did not create this remix merely edited the video to fit the remix; 2. most of the time Martha and the Motels are overlooked when it comes to having a rechno remake done for dance clubs, so this is my way of making sure The Motels are included in that. But techno remixes are not everybody's grab bag, but for those who like techno remixes of past hits, here's at least one for The Motels.

  • DJs remix everything...check out the Verve remixes...this is cool, we can now slow dance to the original and cut a rug on the new one. Saw her live in San Diego...it's even better, and she put a new twist on it...now would u complain about that? :)

  • I agree sdjnet and thanks for your comment. My favorite version of this song is when she performs it live where it sounds more like how Martha Davis wanted the song to sound. While I see a lot of negativity to this dance mix version, allow me to clarify:

  • I love the original, the remix just ruins this perfectly beautiful song.

  • Ruined thier best song--UGGGHHH!!

  • stop re-mixing other peoples music, this stinks.....

  • This is a perfect example of why today's music is a bunch of crap! Long live the 80's....."Jagar"

  • Talk about f..ing up a great song, what garbage.

  • absolute shit! wtf you are thinking? takes the melodic haunting introspective melodies and turns it into a disco dance song MORON

  • Nice

  • @alanelpaso LOVE THIS. I think the implied heartbeat of the song is amplified in this version.

Visually, however, the video never matched the quality of the music. Although the narrative element is valid there is no true Art Direction. In other words, the music radiates immense visual potential that was not realised then, in my opinion. Grace Jones already had Jean Paul Goude in those days but that was avant garde, since music videos were still in their infancy.
