Update 06/01/2012: If you would like a copy of the project, please pm me your email address and I will send you the files asap. Thanks.

Demo of an on-screen side menu class I made in XNA 4.0.

So far the class supports one menu bar for each side of the viewport, so a total of 4 menu bars. Tiled bitmap can be specified for the background of each menu bar. Effects can be specified for each menu (none, appear, crawl-in and fade-in) and for the items in each menu (none, scale and slide). The menus support icons (simple and toggle) and slider bars so far. There is also a resize function in case the screen is resized during the game.

I know this is not perfect yet, but I will add more functions as and when the need arises.
For those who are interested in using this menu system, the source code as it is as of the date of upload of this video can be found here: http://www.bluesky.machigainashi.com/downloads/XNAMenuDemo.zip .
Comments with regards to improvements are of course welcome.

Note: This is not a set of selection menus, but a set of in-game menus.

  • Can I have the source Please? I want to know how to do that

  • @TheMasterMind555 Hey there. Sorry for taking a while to get back to you. You can download the source code from the link in the video explanations. I don't get to work with XNA anymore, but if you want to use this, a few things to change would be defining events for the menu elements and defining a set size for the icons so you can stack them in the menus. Good luck and I hope the code will help you!

  • @daveguitarification Is not working anymore :)

  • @screws0ft Hey there. Sorry about that, but I couldn't maintain the site anymore. If you want the source code, pm me with your email address and I will send it to you.
