You can't say she was the best Lucia ever without listening to Joan Sutherland! Her performance is unforgettable. Edita is great too, but not the very best to me

I saw here in this role in this performace 2 days ago in Vienna. She sang the premiere at 1978 (!!!), that 31 years ago (!!!) and she is still wonderfull! Edita is a miracle!

Yes, there is. There is quite enough character. The character is of Lucia as per Donizetti, therefore it is through the music, which is technically perfectly sung here and stylistically impeccable. It is correct. No more is needed.

She began her career as a soprano leggiero or more lyric coloratura, Queen of the NIght, Lucia, Zerbinetta but her voice has size to it, focus - wonderful projection into the theatre. Her only Verdi roles were Gilda and Violetta. She waited until almost 60 to add Norma to her repertoire and just this year (at 61) sang her first Lucrezia Borgia.
