This is "me" performing the song Confrontation from the musical Jekyll & Hyde. This is community theater and was performed at The Clark Center in Arroyo Grande, CA in the Summer of 2007. We had a wonderful time performing this show and it was the chance of a lifetime for me personally. To address some questions from others I have had several comments from people regarding my portrayal of Dr. Jekyll in this scene not being as passionate as they would like. They wished to see more inner struggle and torment within Dr. Jekyll as Hyde worked his evil against him. The reason that I kept Jekyll calm in this scence is because the performance of Confrontation is physically and vocallly demanding. I decided to reserve the majority of those two energies for Hyde's Charactor because it simply demands as much as you can give it. In order to keep Hyde's charactor ferocious and intense, I pulled back on Jekyll and tried to stay as calm as possible so as to not burn myself out phisically and vocally. If you watch other versions of Confrontation being performed by other people, you won't notice much of a difference between Jekyll & Hyde visually and sonically. That has always bugged me. I found that the best way to represent the dynamics of the two personalities in this song was to completely tone down Jekyll's charactor, and then go off the deep end with Hyde's. The exception for me however is Robert Cuccioli's performance. Nobody does Confrontation better. On a side note, the effect of the rotating stage can only be appriciated by seeing the show live. The video does not do the staging justice. Please let me know what you think by leaving a comment. thanks!

  • this was a very interesting performance. at times it was difficult to tell who was singing (well it would have been if i didnt know the show). but im assuming you did that on purpose. it added a very intriguing dynamic. almost like they were becoming one. i liked it.

  • i think it is, for me, interesting to note, having been blessed to see three different that Robert Cuccioli, a former Javert, is the greater Hyde. Robert Evan, a former Val Jean, is a stronger Jekyll. Joseph Mahwold(sp), an Enjolras, is rather an even keel. No more one then the other. As to you, a fine performance. i will say this, the turn table WORKS for Hyde. it does add an amazing dimension to the scene. As Hyde, you use it well. and, knowing that it is there, for video, i do appreciate it.

  • STOP REVOLVING!

  • @misterstarwars1 it's based on the Gothic Thriller version of the show (the original original with Anthony Warlow/ Colm Wilkinson versions)

  • Amazing Hyde performance. Jekyll as well.

  • Wow that was really good. Bravo!!!!

  • this was awesome

  • @misterstarwars1 The hair flippy thing is so cool! Plus it really adds the affect of seeing the difference Jekyll and Hyde, and the desires they both have! But I will let you keep your opinion!

  • THANK YOU thank thank you for not doing the hair flip thing. This was a million times better. And excellently done!
