Shows the certified light boxwing called "Sunny" with 65 hp 7 m span, 17 sqm wingarea. 150 built from 1990 to 1999 with my former company Tandem Aircraft. More about this craft and new ideas is found on sunny-boxwing.de

Video: It was a hot day with a thunderstorm nearby and the pilot usually had fun with a little Pitts. Then he discovered out little Sunny boxwing - and had fun too.

Note, those crafts are nowadays build by other persons - I'm not responsable for any changes nor have I intended or accepted any changes.

  • Anyone else notice in these myriad ultralight videos on YouTube how often the craft first transitions rough terrain in rumbling to takeoff position? My concern is for stress loading on the airframe and fasteners. It's one thing to have a jarring touchdown where the craft could be inspected to a fare-thee-well for any damage but to jostle about before joining the hawks in-flight is another matter. Everyone please be safe.

  • @TralfazConstruction

the sunny was well for rough terrain due to sandow suspesion and flexible steel connections. on the other hand, you are right: as one can see who has a load indicator in his craft, the loads on ground are sharp and hard and more stressing than those in the air. transport is another critical point. never fix your craft in or at a trailer at critical points. i saw crafts fixed in a trailer at the elevator hinges....

  • can i find plans for a sunny or is there a company making or selling kits?

  • Dear santa...

  • The climb rate is beyond this Earth

  • From a strictly lay person's perspective, it looks like the powered parachute might be the safest of the ultralights. Is this close to being right?
