Anyone who doubts Ruthie Henshall's dancing abilities needs to watch her dance "Bang" in the Sondheim revue Putting it Together.

The point is that velma thinks these better than she actually is ,so the coreography isn't supposed to be as if she were a dancer.
Ruthie is still amazing no matter.

I think she's wonderful. Although she's not the best dancer ever, I don't think it distracts. In fact, I think it kind of adds to her version of the character, which is sort of a dorkier velma.

Its not stunning, i dont think its as bad as its been made out to be. Tho, i Saw Chicago in London and was actually quite disappointed in the choreography, felt it was a bit...i dno more comic and less "dance". wats good tho. x

Was the whole production like that or just Ruthie? I'm curious if this was an artistic direction in the London production or not.

She may be good as Roxie...But she's terribe as Velma. They've cut half the choreography and her kicks are attrocious. If I were to see her as Velma I'd be VERY disappointed.

It seems that much of the more impressive kicks have been blocked by the person sitting on the right in front of the taper.
