The Monterey High School vehicle for the Dupli-Color Restoration Challenge Generation Next is a 1964½ Ford Mustang Coupe... we've affectionally named it "The Rustang". This car had been sitting in a back yard for twenty years, untouched. The chrome had fallen off of the rims, there were chips of chrome all around the car. The car had rust in every panel, and there was a lot of work to be done.
The design is based on what the ideal Monterey High School Mustang would look like. This Mustang is to be painted school colors and will have:
• Custom bodywork, including a large hood scoop, front spoiler and side skirts. Bumpers will be removed or painted to match
• 302 Ford small block with Edelbrock accessories
• Automatic transmission
• Full length headers with side exit exhaust.
• Paint-medium green metallic pearl, gold metallic LeMans stripes
• The wheels will be an open pattern in 17" or 18" w/correct offset
• Two inch lowering spring kit front and rear
• Disc brakes and upgrade master cylinder-rebuilt rear brakes
• Complete suspension and steering rebuild-Custom steering wheel
• Repaired/ modified wiring harness, custom head and tail light
• Interior: grey cloth high back seats, matching rears. Interior panels/ Carpet/door panels/seat belts/dash pad painted black
•The stereo -mp3 ready with 6" kick panel speakers-rear package tray with 6 × 9 speakers, subwoofer in the trunk with an amp
