@Elfulcrum777 screw the laws, I have missiles!

@zipacna1980 I got the story from an RAF journal and it was about a Harrier during the 1980s, I hope they didn't make it up because it's a good story. The police certainly did have radar guns then, and the story didn't say sam launch detected, it said hostile radar detected.
Respect to another aircraft nut.

@Elfulcrum777 LIKE YOU TOO

@TheophilusPWildbeest It may not be a real story. At the time aircraft countermeasures were so primitive to make no difference between SAM and police radar police had no idea about radars and used stopwatch to detect speeding. Also the chance to get targeted by hostile radar guided SAM for RAF in UK territory is slightly less than zero. Portable SAMs are all IR, heat seeking.

Police in rural Northumberland some years ago were using a speed gun on motorists and were suprised to record one doing over 300 mph! Then a jet came straight at them at 50 feet. The police complained to the RAF about the low flying, but the reply was that the policemen were lucky to be alive because the aircrafts defensive systems had already got a lock on the hostile radar and given the pilot a firing opportunity to take it out. (True story).
