I liked the topic about "numbers = success". But it seems the Biblical view is that success should be measured by quality of professing Christians, not quantity.
In other words the small church on the corner is more successful because the Christians are growing in their faith and being sanctified through conviction whereas the mega-church attender is only having their ears scratched.

How many views until YOU'RE A CELEBRITY? If ya get 500,000, do ya get a gold record? Snicka! Otherwise, you're pretty much right! PEACE!

@Synexious You have to assume that both groups are Christian for your criticism to make sense. You haven't, so at this point, you're using a logical fallacy.

Lane, have you seen what Eddie Long did recently? WOW. youtu. be/AVkoQHCXSK8

@LaneCh Christian vs. Christian... round 35,056,438.145, fight! There is a Christianity for every Christian.

@imsmeagol911 Agreed. Never been so frustrated with the Reformed community (which I'm a part of) than I have been in the last couple of months in response to Real Marriage and ER2.

@imsmeagol911 T.D. Jakes was anything but clear at the Elephant Room. He was muddy and confusing. He did say "one God, three persons," but then went on to say he's not crazy about the word "persons" and leans more towards the word "manifestations." Um, the obvious question has to be, "Why?" "Manifestations" is not the same as "persons," no matter how you slice it. If Jakes wants to be clear about the Trinity, why doesn't he just say it straight and be clear? He is revealing an alternate agenda.

@LaneCh And what were all his other books about? Doctrine, Jesus' life, Jesus' death, the church... All that and now a book, not only on sex, but on marriage that happens to contain a chapter on sex. Are Christians never supposed to talk about sex?

When I first listened to Elephant Room with Driscoll, MacDonald and Jakes I was wondering what the big deal was. I wasn't really familiar with Jakes teachings other than the prosperity gospel stuff.
I had no idea that he didnt believe in the Trinity. And because of the language he uses which sounds very Christian, I could not discern the problems with the things he was saying.
I just wanted to thank Lane, Johnson, White and Friel for explaining what I should have discerned from the get go.
around 16 minutes you are talking about those who say something about being persecuted if others dont want their church to grow in certain situations. I know just what you mean. I went to a SBC church plant for a bit that used a lot of Lifeway and Experiencing God stuff, and I realized after awhile, alot of that ideology that says persecution was anyone disagreeing with them stemmed from those"off" types of programs being pushed on the church. Especially after the "Experiencing God Weekend"

@Outdoorsymaiden11 I hear you. It's the difference between idolatry in the form of selfish accumulation and sincere devotion to Christ. It's easy to fall in the trap of selfish accumulation. I've struggled with it in my life. Thanks to God's grace, we're able to strive to put away such idolatry.
