Nani Ke Alohilohi is a hymn in the Hawaiian language honoring the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of God. Sung by Choir of Lepers of St. Francis Church, Kalaupapa, Molokai, under the direction of Father Gustave Fierens, SS.CC., recorded around 1961 at St. Francis Church, since the choir could not leave the settlement. Special equipment was flown in via the small airline that serves the settlement with daily flights. The church itself provided a rich resonance, which modern recording technology has enhanced. The choir's repertory, incidentally, includes six Masses and many other works.
