On November 20, the third day of the UC system-wide strike against student fee increases, 43 students occupied Wheeler Hall with four Berkeley campus related demands. Police from both UCPD and Alameda County soon formed a barricade around Wheeler. Students and community members surrounded Wheeler to support those occupying the building.

  • they should of wore football gear and held police back

  • Education is for public good, not for private profit!

  • why all the exclamation marks? yes I agree with you they do need students in order to make a college, its a business. Students pay the school to provide a proper training in a certain field so that they can then get a job in that field and get paid for it. what I would like to see is people just stop, all at once, professors and students just opt out to using their business. Hold out. what do you think would happen then? new schools maybe? competition? what do you think?

  • What a bunch of morons - Do you really think the economics of the state is just going to pass you by.... welcome to the real world buttheads. There's a lot more fee hikes in store for you - the state's finances are a complete mess.

  • Progressives impose price increases on progressives, and the progressives dont like it. So the progressives protest the progressives because of their progressive policies.

I just hope those progressives stay at their own school/state. You made your bed, now sleep in it.

  • @draven235

It got you talking, didn't it?

  • That last guy is full of shit. Student safety is NEVER a concern for administrators and cops when students refuse to act like sheep.

  • @freakingtv. We don't need them, they need us! Its not about not buying their products but about taking back what is ours and that is our schools and also our workplace! We (the working class) produce the wealth and all they (the ruling class) do is nothing but collect from our blood and sweat! We need to take back what is ours!!!!

  • Brilliant! This would work but it would take thousands all at the same time.

  • I think a great way to impact the politicians and to show them how serious you are is for all the people to pull out. Pull out from the universities all at once. Stop right there and pull out. Put your foot solid down to the ground. People all over United States, pull out of school. Stop using their system. Martin Luther King it. Its bargaining, they need you as much as you need them. But if you dont buy into their product then they have to bargain. Think about it.
