That's a regular FWD transaxle, when mounted longitudinal, he had to have welded the diff to be able to use one output shaft.

Longitudinal engine layout, sorry. I've only seen them a couple times. I believe a single output shaft runs to a rear differential in the original vehicle. Hence, this bike is able to use a single, I'm assuming very custom, drive rod.

@K5pl I saw some photos of this on FB. I'm guessing the transmission is out of an old RWD VW. We had the longitudinal engine in the VW Fox in the US. I really want to see more on the build and specs of this bike!

I met this Dutchman in june 2011 on a campsite in Switzerland,
he's redone the paintjob.
Now the bike and the contraption behind it look like made of bare sheet metal.
He was on route to Greece, still going strong.
Beatiful bike, very well made.
