Another B-side. Appears in "Shake the Disease" single.

Lyrics:

Fame
Can have strange effects
Money
Can have strange effects

I ask myself
Is it a sin
To be flexible
When the boat comes in

Open the window and out go ideals

Drink
Can alter you
Girls
Can have strange effects, too

We all know boats don't last
We all know cars are fast

  • The rhythm / percussion in their songs could be so innovatively brilliant. Great example here.

  • @85724martinfry there IS a "b-sides and instrumentals". It was a 4 disc set (there was a singles 4 disc set also) released in Japan in the early 90s. I happen to have both of the Japanese box sets (8 discs in total). Don't know if they were released again later or anywhere else/other countries/other versions.

  • @depeche609 No, haven't seen any online. I love there B-sides too! I make depeche cassette mixes for my mates but thats a good idea, to make b-side only cassette mixes :)

  • first DM song i ever heard hooked on DM since

  • This is my favorite song be depeche! Reminds me of being a teenager again...I miss the 80's!!

  • @McLarenMercedes Well,i always wanted them to do " The B Sides Tour " :-)

  • DM B-sides have always been as good as [in some cases better] than their A-sides. Since 'New Life/Shout', the 12'' has had a remixed or extended B-side too. Not many bands do this, but DM do, and the tracks are often startlingly high quality, especially ones written by Alan Wilder. Sometimes they are mental, such as the On-U Sound System remix 'Are People People'. I love them all. :D

  • @jeszkam Aaahhh...you're right. I stand corrected. Depeche Mode's FIRST foray into country music. Good one.

  • I remember this on KROQ in L.A. in the mid-80's. How time doth pass...
