thank you chicken saver for saving hope :)

I'm still crying from this. I have a few pet chickens, I thank them if they give me an egg and they get to catch bugs and graze whenever they feel like it. They are wonderful animals and not a single one should ever be treated like this. I can't sit here and do nothing. I have a little room left, I will try to find an organization in my area and even though I can't save them all, I can make a difference for 1 or 2 hens and have them join our little flock.

this video almost made me cry. :(

@nominoms620 I agree with you 100%, however it's not necessarily the fault of the farmers. At least in America, the meat and egg industries keep the farmers constantly under their thumb. They regulate everything, including the way the hens are treated. You should watch Food Inc. It's a documentary about that sort of thing, and I learned a lot from watching it.

This actually brought me to tears. Every time I see battery hens, cooped up in such tiny cages in such disgusting conditions, I wonder how farmers can bear to keep these chickens in such a state. Obviously they are aware that they are causing these hens pain, so why don't they just stop?

This is very sickening, Totally ashamed to be Human. We have started a new page on facebook called Free Range Humans, so if you want to join and let your friends on facebook know all about Battery Hens, please come and say hello.

This makes me so sad, when we build a coop at our new property we will be adopting some ex battery hens from a rescue.

@EddieAlda Yep, I didn't have enough characters to go into being wary of "free range" and "barn raised"; theyre treated just as badly.
I keep ex caged hens and it takes on average a year or so for them to regain their health and they still lay fine. It's so sad to get them fresh out of the cage, they cant walk, they cant roost, and they've never seen or felt grass before, or natural sunlight.
the truly free range hens eggs are more expensive, but well worth it.

All you rotten people who can't live without eggs or dairy make me sick. You are only eating bad cholesterol! Give those two things up and your body will thank you for it. GET A CLUE PEOPLE> Stop adding to the misery.

@DominionGalactica I haven't bought eggs in a long time. I'd rather boycott caged and free range. I basically stopped eating eggs in protest. People who think they are doing the right thing by switching to free range haven't a clue. Best bet if you must eat eggs is to find a friend who has chickens in their back garden. Until you have visited a factory farm and smelt the ammonia that the poor chickens have to breath all day long, you don't truly know their suffering. Fark humans! Go vegan.
battery hen farming is so cruel it should not be aloud.
im getting some ex-battery hens to make shore they have a better life!!!!!!

I am proud to say, I am doing all I can to help chooks. I have never bought cage eggs, I would never give those bastards a cent of my money. I have recently given up fast food fried chicken (it's been tough) but I have discovered the joys of home made fried chicken using free range meat. Come spring I'll be building a backyard coop and keeping a few chooks for eggs. The way to stop this inhumane activity is to stop the demand. If they aren't making profits, they can't stay in business.
