Eva Rueda en el ejercicio de suelo de la final por equipos de Barcelona '92. En la primera diagonal, el mortal adelante es demasiado bajo, pero Eva adelanta una pierna y hace que resulte difícil ver si ha sido un fallo o no. De hecho Aurelia Dobre hacía un elemento similar en los años 80. ¿Por qué a Eva se le descontó valor al elemento y se la penalizó como caída? De todos modos una de las jueces no lo interpretó como error (y le cayó una bronca...). Al final le dieron un 9.232 y España quedó 5ª, la mejor clasificación de su historia.

This was in the team final, correct? If I'm not mistaken, "equipos" means teams. I may be wrong, considering I only completed two years of Spanish in high school (two years was the minimum requirement for the foreign languages credit).

Yes, team optionals. Eva didn't qualify for the all around because of her mistake (well hidden though ;)) in this routine.

WOw this was really watered down. Was she hurt? I don't seem to remember that she was, but I could have forgotten.

Yes, she was injured at that time.

Dobre did it at the end of a combination tumbling run. This wasnt the end of the run, plus the judges knew the routine

The reasons why the judges counted it as a fall are as follows:

1. She didnt train it in practice so they knew the routine

2. She got up and made a salute movement, had she kept moving out of it, she could have pulled it off.

3, The fact that it was a combination tumbling run made it odd to think she would go to the floor and then get up to continue the tumble.

Yeah, I was wondering why they counted that as a fall. As you said, Aurelia Dobre did the same move in the 80s, so surely that punch front move was in the code of points? Who knows...

She fell, it's not good, but she was a great gymnast.
