J.D. Sumner appeared with the Master's V in 1985 in Owosso, Michigan and puts on his best song & dance to sell his tapes and records during the intermission of their concert.
His sales pitch is the culmination of 60+ years of entertaining. He was a professional in every respect as evident in this clip.
Notice how relaxed he is. No canned speech here.
This concert was held at the old Lebowsky theatre in downtown Owosso.
Sorry for the poor quality of the tape. I just happened to hear about the concert and took my camcorder and tripod with me.
Not knowing any history of the Master's V, I had no idea what I was witnessing. Every member has his unique history. If I had only known anything about Hovie Lister, Jim Blackwood, Jake Hess or J.D. Sumner, I would have been asking them a million questions.
All a great quartet needs is four magnificent singers and a fabulous piano player to be number 1. No need for an fancy orchestra or professional sound track to back you up.
See the other video posted here of the Master's V in action.
I still LOVE JD. I miss his singing and his humor. JD was one of a kind. I laughed all the way through this. thank you for posting it.

Good classic JD. We have a lot songs sung by JD on you tube, this brings JD in a different light and is a must see for Southern Gospel historians. This is a unique clip, and should be preserved, as the genuine piece of American history it is.
