My first VFX reel. Learned everything I know from fxphd. I created the effects (shattered glass, removing wires, backgrounds, green screen replacement and compositing, and GUI for the futuristic table). Footage and background plates and graphic design elements provided by fxphd, hollywood camera work, videocopilot.net.

Software used include: After Effects CS4, Mocha, Syntheyes, FCP, Photoshop, Illustrator, Blender 3D

  • Nice Reel!

I just started to learn mocha.

    one noob question:

    The example of the truck:

How do you place the person before the truck after tracking with mocha? Is this done with a matte or something or how do i do this?

    Thanks in advance!

  • painstaking rotoscope. get a rough track of the person first to simply matters, then start the masking and feather process.

  • awesome. did you use mocha at all?

  • Yes, used it extensively and love it. If it were a woman, I would marry it.

  • Great reel mate, bravo. A tip for the helicopter shot: the blast needs re-timing in my opinion, and the rock surface at the bottom left corner needs to be stabilized (as it's not real rock as we know...). Keep up the good work. Cheers.

  • thanks for tips. i didn't even notice the rock shifting. still gots lot to learn for my 2010 reel.

  • @stuntman7545 thanks but i got it over time, and the clip uses the technique of matte painting right? i love it!

  • @Margalus89 The X's are used for tracking if you still wanted to know.

  • joder, que bueno !!! menudas buenas correciones de color y cambios de fondos. MUY BUENO

  • A lot of this if not all comes from tutorials...doesn't mean that you can't do those effects but it wouldn't hurt to be a little more original... Good luck out there

  • solid as a rock. good job!

  • Damn that's great, i love the white lady's one! What are the X's on the green screen for? I'm a noob of the green screen, just starting out.

  • How can you key everything out that great and match the keyed out footage so well with the surrounding? The first one might just be my camera quality, although it's 1080p and for the secound one, you really see what I mean at 0:57-1:04. Thanks in advance mate. ;)

  • thats so cool i wish i can be in a vid like that

  • man that intro is cool, but its a template so you see it everywhere, or at least i have. It would be cool and probably more personal/artistic if you changed up some more elements. if you know what i mean. good job though

  • awesome
