A short video of my 9 year old daughter Lauren demonstrating how to gild a piece of flat glass using my new designed Smith Tip. Glass Gilding in the signtrade was always regarded as a 5 year apprentiship in England. I was taught how to lay gold leaf from the age of 16 using a traditional giding tip. The standard gilding tip was always awkward for laying full leaves but now with this new design laying gold has become easier as you can see with these short videos.
Thanks for watching. For information and to order a Smith Tip email me at signworks_uk@btinternet.com

I'm very new to gilding, do you have any advice on gilding on canvas? Do you have to use a primer or can you just apply a dab of glue and press the goldleaf onto the canvas?
