  • can i just say one thing?....

thank you Lord for giving us KRS one. the world is lost and we need light

  • The reason he says you can't be rich and make raw hip hop is because he knows the game. He knows you cannot become a rich rapper talking about truth. All rich rappers are agents or puppets. They write their own songs but, only certain ones get to be released. The ones that use "nigga" "bitch" and "hoe" the most get released. The one's that encourage Blacks to educate themselves, stick together and fight oppression get booted off the album and are never heard unless on a free mixtape.

  • can i get an amen!

  • I love TRUE HIP HOP but Krs one can be a Hypocrite sometimes he said Lil Wayne was the best rapper right now WTF !!!

  • @tehgreatist Lauryn Hill still hasn't "apologized" for that album. It won her 5 Grammies, world wide recognition, yet that label will never let her put out another one because of WHAT she talked about the entire time. Songs like "Lost Ones", "Everything Is Everything", "That Thing"...all catchy tunes and conscious at the same time. They won't even allow her to work with their producers to doctor her new tracks. All you hear is the live versions of her new songs which are low budget but still good.

  • @tehgreatist True, they find KRS-ONE boring but they didn't find Lauryn Hill's "Miseducation of Lauryn Hill" boring. Why? Because at that time she had allies. She does still make music. She just isn't promoted (it has nothing to do with her style changing). She lost her friends because, her style did not change. She was supposed to enter that "dark side" after "The Miseducation" and she didn't. She had babies, kept singing about truth. She was supposed to make an ignorant recovery.

  • @Satansoppressed i agree with a lot of what youre saying but youre making it too literal. shit like that just doesnt sell that well man. im not gonna say the radio isnt corporate controlled but its not so much blatant racism and hatred as marketing and knowing what will sell. unfortunately, the majority of radio listeners would probably find krs-one boring

  • @tehgreatist (continued) ...these allies can help him when he needs them. When he makes a "boo boo", such as talking too much about Black love, too much about the system or saying things that make Black listeners feel powerful. It's the #1 way to piss off a record label exec. When this happens, you'll need an ignorant ally in your corner to feature on your next song. A Common and Kanye collaboration has to happen following an overly conscious release. It's an apology to the label.

  • @tehgreatist ...(continued) THIS alone, can make a rapper change directions. Knowing what to talk about can make all the difference as to whether you become the next Jay-Z or if you end up being like KRS-ONE. They are both known but, KRS-ONE is STILL known because he rose up during a time when shit still mattered. In today's society you have to be ignorant or in bed with the ignorant to ever be heard of. Common, for example, he is a very conscious rapper but, he has ignorant allies.

  • @tehgreatist While richness may be ONE factor that makes an artist turn away from being "raw", it's not the only factor.Rappers don't control radio and television. These companies are owned by rich people. They play what they'd like people to hear and use hip hop for their own agenda.Hits aren't created by popular demand anymore. People may request a certain song but, first they'd have to have heard it to even know they like it. And where did they hear it if the media never plays it?

  • @Satansoppressed no man he was saying as you get rich and move away from the streets and get famous you lose that hunger that makes you write real raw hip hop.
