Those pants look too big on her, so she was probably not a German soldier. Most likely she was a nurse or had a non-combat role in the military. She probably ended up with those pants because the ones she had on before were probably ripped or torn during her being assaulted.
@onefugowie All possibilities. This woman can also be seen for a moment in the video of German refugees near the Czech border "1945 Lost Girl and Other Germans". The book/movie "Woman in Berlin" tells about this time for some refugees. Millions of other stories from that time as well.
@TheMajestuoso she is wearing German soldier pants..does not mean she is a soldier probley only thing she could find to wear..they also look to big for her so maybe off of someone that didnt need them any more..if you get my drift..
this is the part of war thats very very sad..this is only one picture of what happened to Millions
@pratana08 That's an interesting thought. She may have been serving her country as part of the military. I was wondering, though nothing changes the sadness of this video. I had seen a video on YouTube of a women's auxiliary unit of the German military and one woman is wearing a similar black shirt under a coat. (video is NAZI FEMALE AUXILIARY III REICH HELFERINNEN).
I've seen tons of 1940s photography and it seems very rare to see American and German women dressed in pants instead of a dress. Is she wearing men's clothes perhaps? A farm or factory girl? Maybe her clothes would tell us something more about her story?
One mans will destroyed a country. Always sivilian suffer. War never changes...

I've seen this many times over the years. It always makes me wonder who she was & what became of her? She would be in her 80s by now if alive.
