My first session of the event on 2-2-08. Only one car was a fair match. The Porsche 911 GT3 Cup. This video starts after 2 tire warm-up laps. The video ends at the checkered flag. There are 2 edits to shorten the video to under the 10min You tube limit.

Here is the list of cars that I pass: SLK32, Mustang Cobra, SLK55, S2000, Miata, MX-5, Spec Miata, Porsche 993, Corvette C5, Z06, Solstice, BMW Z3, 335i. Then a 996 GT3 Cup car passes me on the last lap.

The non-race day rules at the Motorsport Ranch are passing only in the straights. also, this is an event organized by thedriversedge.net. You will notice that The rules of the driver's edge are: Passing only after the lead driver points you by. On member days at MSR, pointing by is a common courtesy but not required.

Notice that every time I exit the chicane (rattlesnake) the corner worker is waving a passing flag to warn the driver in front of me to let me by.

  • what are you driving

  • 2006 Porsche Cayman S

  • That's one hell of a car. My favorite parts are the corvette passes. Just out of curiosity, have you ever raced against a V8 miata?

  • actually yes. It was a Miata with a LS1 corvette engine with 11" wide tires.

  • Seems like you spend a good amount of time on the track. How often you do you go out? People tell me that it gets expensive. How much is the fuel and tires costs for you?

  • I get out there a couple of days a month. 10 hours/800 miles a month.

    Tires $1200

    Brake pads $600

    Oil changes $300

    Brake fluid replacement $200

    Events cost about $300

PLUS, you have to fix whatever breaks on the car.

Each of these have to be done every 10 to 20 hours depending on how hard you drive, the temperature and track conditions. 700 to 1500 miles.

There are tires and pads that last longer, but they are slower. A new driver will get many times that usage.

  • @threepalms08 boxster is a chick car

  • I thought you go to a track to go fast not to be stuck in traffic, you can do that on the highway.

  • @jonasd99 I want the boxster. not cause its the cheap one, Cause i was looking at the cayman but the boxster its convertable.. are they expinsve to fix sense the engin is in the middle?

  • You were 1 group too low. It's more fun with like minded (skillled) maniacs.

    Well done.

  • Wow, the first 6 minutes of this video was even frustrating for me to watch, I couldn't imagine your impatience towards the people who don't look in their mirrors when you've been riding their arse for 20 seconds.

  • To bad there is no1 else in your "level range" to compete against :D
