is this at Gong Kedak? i've been there few times. i'm working with the Malaysian Meteorological Department and have visited the Met station there. But i never saw an airshow over gong kedak before. Usually the fighter take off and goes to god knows where.
@jorgemdllin The 360 degree move in vertical is termed as Kulbit and yes we can do it but in this video it was not shown however the kulbit that we do is continued with a 180 degree flat yaw so it does not seem like the normal kulbit as seen in Russian airshows. FBW in russian jets actually are very advanced and increases the manuevering potential further. Even the newer Mig is FBW controlled.
@mantanfwi yes my friend is tail slide I knew it as tail drift but is the same and you are the pilot so Ill keep your terms, and I exaclty mean that 360 degree move but not horizontal but verticall I only saw doing it a su 30mk from the russian air force the number 06 and a lot mig 29s.btw I thought that the advantage of the russian planes was that they didnt have fly by wire and that was why they could do that manoeuvres or was it on the mig 29?,thank you so much for explain that to me!!!!
@jorgemdllin If you mean tail drift is when the ac moves forward tail first, actually we do a combined manuever based on that, in the TVC assisted barrel roll or what we term as a spin roll, During first pull up, the ac actually enters into cobra like stance but instead of pushing forward to recover we continue into a roll and as the ac go post stall it yaws and the pilot then controls the rate of pitch and roll to ensure that the ac recovers to erect position into a high angle of attack flight
@jorgemdllin with the Su-30MK series especially those equipped with AL-31FP and TVC, advanced FBW computations allow it to perform post stall manuevers at ease. Victor Pugachev remarked that why do a simple cobra when the a/c is actually flying a continuous cobra during some of the manuevers for example the tail slide. At the peak of the slide, the a/c is actually about 150 deg of angle of attack and maintaining this through out the slide. Thought i am not sure what you mean by tail drift
@jorgemdllin Thanks for the adulations...always is a pleasure to please the crowd...dreams do come true sometimes so keep on wishing and maybe you might get it ;))
Based on our discussion with victor pugachev, the cobra is more of a limited post stall manuever that he discovered during one of the test flight for Fly by Wire development program of Su-27. Bear in mind that during this period (mid 80s) post stall manuever is unheard of and being able to fly at high angle of attack is a rarity.
@mantanfwi wow you must be the happiest person on earth, I swear I would give the rest of my life just to do this for one day, you have my dream in your hands, and I have to say, between all the Su30mk...you fly the most sexy and powerfull one, I really wish I could do that, I would try my best to be the best.
Cheers and congratulations, all my best wishes for you.
btw can I ask you why the RMAF never performs cobras and tail drifts and such?to see that sexy lady doing that must be great!!
