Unit has been fixed, RV was working fine after shutdown so it was given a permenant 240V supply whenever the unit is running.

RV control board is still faulty but it is hotwired so it only runs in cool mode (no need for heat at all)

  • Interesting situation. Was it the internal relief in the compressor we were hearing several seconds after shutdown?

    Thanks for the post.

  • Nah, the RV was clicking over after the system shut down, turned out to be a electrical problem.

  • i think that the internal relife valve would trip when the comp was still running and not when it stops on hi press.safety devices.

  • lol. it still would have done damage to the comp id say. :)

  • oh yeah, the guy who got me to look at it depressed the contactor manually while i was there, the RV saved the comp!

hit critical and the RV was forced to dump.

  • I Have seen some that run 24V, but the majority are mains AC, especially since some systems have no low voltage control at all.

  • but it could have made a good vid of it popping.lmao

  • @Aussie50 Interesting. I have never seen a RV valve run on mains voltage before...

  • I used 240V AC, its a 240V coil.

The valve only operated before the comp started so its hotwired now and the chiller is running

  • Did you try putting a constant 24V to the RV to see what would happen?
