  • Thanks very much. Wonder how hard it will be to find...If I can't find it, it'll be pretty easy to memorize right off here. Nice to have a hard copy though...:P

  • A copy of the tune can be purchased from pipetunes(dot)ca. A search under the composer Ann Gray will lead you right to it.

Or you can purchase Ann Gray's 2nd collection of music available from most piping shops online.

The tune may be listed under the Gaelic title "Cha Till MacCruimein".

  • What's the growling you hear on-and-off? That isn't his bass drone is it? lol.

  • No, it is not a growling bass drone. Lyle's pipes sounded nice, in fact, it got him 1st. The growling sound is probably some audio noise.

  • What is this tune? I've heard it before...

  • The tune is "MacCrimmon Will Never Return" (the slow air version).

  • Hi there,- I can not put my finger on your playing,- just spot on... but I think your position with your pipes is not right. You should try a new blow pipe or a smaller bag,- you dont look "one" with your pipes.... still you do the job "bulls eye"

  • Hello, that's me. Yeah,

I was kinda leaning there. I'd only been on the pipes for about...11 months? I had some weird posture issues goin' on. The sound anomalies are all technical though. My pipes stayed pretty steady. I'm going back to this same competition at the end of this week as a Grade III piper and will hopefully be recorded with some better posture!

  • Nothing wrong with the playing. Pipes ounds great and it is a great tune. Just wundered about his body position. I have never seen anyone play like this. He is bending wildly to the right and the bass drone is over his right shoulder.... it does not seem to influence his playing, but it could give him trouple with his back, if he is playing much,- and I think he is.... just a comment,- no attack or bad butt words.... like the playing

  • Thank you, that's very helpful. :) (Sorry for taking over your comment section by the way!)
