I've been looking for a ss water bottle too, I think I'm going to get one from goodlife, it's got good reviews
still made in China though :(

I wouldn`t be suprised if they find lead, cadium or another material that shouldn`t be found in stainless steel. Remember these are produced in China for people that are learly of BPA or other dangerous chemicals. I wouldn`t put my money on China for producing a chemical free, non-toxic product.

You're a little cutie, I would drink from your Klean Kanteen anytime!!!

I tried stainless steel but I have to see my water, so I will stick with BPA free Camelbaks (polycarbonate replacement).
by the way, what size is your kanteen? 27oz?

Yeah, any other country, BUT China! Places like here in Australia, USA, Sweden etc... You know you are getting a product that has had years of thought put into it. (Sigg/ Nalgene)

I mean, yes and no. That definitely not my reason for buying American-made products. I don't like Sigg's because they coat the inside of their bottles with something they won't disclose to the public, and I don't like Nalgene for their involvement with animal testing. What you have to remember is the thought process is their, because Klean Kanteen is an American company, they've just outsource their labor to China, Which I'm against, but I'm sure they've put thought into their product.

Every Klean Kanteen bottle I've ever opened has had a very strong metallic/rubber smell. No joke. Kinda similar to new car smell, only it is new bottle smell. It has been enough to disuade me from purchasing the item.
Does this smell dissapate after several washings?

Though I haven't really noticed the smell, I have noticed that metallic-y taste the first few times I filled mine up with water. That being said, I think that's pretty common with restaurant-grade stainless steel (think about the smell of cafeteria kitchens, if you can). This summer I actually lost mine and had to buy a new one, and I rinsed it with boiling water before using it and didn't taste that metallic taste at all, while my mom, you didn't rinse hers, did mention the taste. So, RINSE!
