Such grace, dignity, simplicity, control and warmth. There is no other pianist who gave so much in these and remains an object lesson. What a great work this is: Chopin achieves a complete synthesis of his work. Two very strangely wonderful bars of transition which defy analysis.

A beautifully intimate and poetic performance of this little gem.

About 20 years ago Dmitry Paperno had this Impromptu scheduled on a recital. I was all excited, because you don't hear it too often. Then he substitued the weakest (in my opinion) Scherzo, the op. 20 in B-minor. I still fume about it. Rubinstein kicks *ss! I want my F-Sharp Impromptu. Thank God for YouTube! (Maybe I should just get over it?!)
