The way the hedge is being cut doesnt seem to leave much scope for any nesting birds, it may look neat but in truth a "bushier" hedge is more desirable for wildlife, hopefully it will thicken up the following spring. It looks like spring/summer-did you check that there wernt any nesting birds prior to cutting ?

I have NEVER seen anything like this, it's incredible. I have spent many an hour hedge cutting using conventional flail arm hedge cutters mounted on tractors, but this thing is mega....... and it does a good job! Brilliant video, that things crazy.

Yeah its better to cut them every 3 years some guys mulch(flail) every year but cutting it back u dont get dieback in the hedge from dead matter decomposing, some bug gets to the hedge cheers
