I present our unique version of THE CARNIVAL OF VENICE... The interludes of famous composers are there for the audience members unfamiliar with the piece - believe it or not there are non-brass players who have never heard of it!

I'd like to dedicate this one to Dr Nicholas Childs and the Black Dyke Band

Instrument Info (If I don't put this, people always ask!)

TROMBONE - Conn 8H, Kelly 5G
CORNET - Vincent Bach 184G, Denis Wick 3RW
EUPHONIUM - Besson Prestige, Kelly 51D
FLÜGELHORN - Yamaha YFH631, Denis Wick 3RW
TRUMPET - French Besson Meha, Vincent Bach 1.25C

  • TRUMPET!!! you should have gone for the high F!!!

  • @zerrubabbel - it's an interesting thought zerrubabbel... and I must say that when we play C of V live it often gets the top F treatment... However, on this particular day I thought a serious bottom F would be more entertaining - since everyone is expecting the high one.... and as we all know a decent low F is hard to play too. Iain tells me I never play anything the same way twice... I guess that's why it's art and not science. Thanks for the comment - please comment on my other movies.

  • You, good sir, have made it onto my ipod.

    Audacity is the greatest.

Critique wise, the first movement on the trombone sounded like a cheesy mix of jazz and classical technique put together. Not exactly my type, but everything else was superb!

  • Bravo James, I find it hard enough just playing one instrument. You're a star!

  • well, i can say, that what you have done is technically very difficult, and i appreciate the effort a LOT :D, h/w to my liking, i would say, stick with one instrument, not all 3. But good effort, and good job, still sounds very nice :)

  • @wallstore

Schilke 51D is a great mouthpiece. Consistent sound throughout the entire range of any instrument with the right embouchure. I play on a Denis Wyck 3AL myself

  • Nice playing ;) How's the rim size of the 51D compared to the 5G?

  • Anyways , I've criticized you and you deserve a compliment, carnival of Venice is not easy and your video was humorous ( like "we interrupt this arpeggio"). Your all great musicians .

  • Your definitely right about the bottom F ... There are maybe me and one or two others who can make it sound good on my band,
