In 2003, Rene Enriquez defected from the Mexican Mafia. As a senior leader in the organization, he had much to offer the authorities. His debriefings with officials were videotaped. Here are excerpts from one tape.

@lightersburn yes I have, for 3 1/2 years I was in juvenile hall. Im 20 now though I got out when I was 18. It sucked in there

@DENZELDAY So he might get his life sentence commuted to time served if he continues to work with authorities? Well maybe if he does good things he may deserve it, freedom that is...but then he is marked for death by the EME so maybe he needs to stay within the auspice of law enforcement...

It is almost impressive and amazing just how articulate Renee Enriquez is...had he doen things different, he could have been a lawyer, or a medical examiner, something besides being a member of the most notorious prison gang on earth....but from what I have witnessed, Renee is doing better now, and is working in a more professional capacity with law enforcemen both on the inside, and beyond....see his life hasn't been wasted, he's doing something of worth, and saving lives....
