Anja Silja and Victor Braun in the second act of Janacek's Makropulos Case. Baron Prus tells Emilia Marty that he has read Ellian McGregor's very explicit love letters (written 100 years ago), he remarks on how Ellian sexually intimate they are, she is offended by his judgement. He also has proof that Ellian's real name was Elina Makropulos; Emelia reacts aggressively. She calms down when she realises that the only proof is the mothers name on Ferdinand's birth certificate. Prus cannot understand her interest in the Gregor case nor how she knows what was in an envelope that was sealed a hundred years ago. She offers him money for the envelope, he leaves offended, but he'll be back!
